Street Legal 1969 Chevy Camaro Makes 2500 Horsepower To The Tires With Video

HOT ROD's 2013 Fastest Street Car in America Takes To The Dyno For Even More Power This Year

We just got a text from 2013 Drag Week Winner Tom Bailey. Bailey is the owner and champion driver of a very wicked 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. Last year, Bailey won Drag Week and this year he's already building a recipe for success. If this is any clue to what's to come, Tom Bailey just laid down 2500 horsepower to the dyno in his 1969 Chevy Camaro and we have the video.
"Maxed out the chassis dyno," it said and included a video link. "What, huh?" we replied, as we waited for the video to load on our stupid broken iPhone. "The dyno goes to 2,500 and then shuts down," he answered. "It probably would have been close to 2,700 hp." Boy howdy. That's worth firing up the laptop to see, so we did, and here it is for your enjoyment too.

Start out by admiring the new intake manifold, and then let engine builder Steve Morris walk you through a few other changes to the car since Bailey made his record 6.70 pass at Drag Week 2013. This Chevy Camaro also benefits for new wastegates and blow-off valves from Turbosmart. Of course, larger fuel injectors were also added to the mix. As usual, we've done too much talking. We'll let the video pick up where we left off. Skip to the 4-minute mark if you just want to see some dyno action.
Make sure to turn up your computer speakers. You won't believe what this Camaro sounds like. Good grief, we're in for a very exciting 2014 Drag Week this year.
